Welcome to my approach to online continuing education for mental healthcare providers. My goal is to provide non-boring, genuinely interesting topics that will allow you to re-up your license.
The following course has four sections:
 Listening
 Reading
 Investigating
 Evaluating
The course is designed you take 3 hours to complete (hence, 3 hours credit)
A couple of notes before you begin:
First, live presentations inevitably have periods of muddled sound when attendees are asking questions or offering comments. On some occasions I remember to repeat what is said, and on some I don't. I think you'll always be able to get the gist of what's being said, but I know it can be a bit annoying.
Second, you'll hear me referring to "your client" at times. At the opening of the workshop I ask attendees to identify a client in their current caseloads who is a bit troublesome for them, and for whom relgious issues are part of the picture. At times I ask attendees to apply the topic we're discussing to that client. You may find it helpful to do the same as you move through this material.

Note: There will be periods of silence as others are commenting and asking questions. I restate the comments and questions as I proceed...

Question: Do you have a right or responsibility to judge a person’s religious experience and practice?
The Ethics of Biology is different than the Ethics of Spirituality.
Religion is such a polarizing issue in our culture.
 Many religious perspectives are exclusive.
Religious sentiment has an undeniable, yet unfocused connection to psychology.
Religious beliefs have deep connections to our unconscious and subconscious views of reality, and so are not readily available to rational examination.
The primary ethical dimension of this discussion comes in with our responsibility to not impose or project our issues on to our clients.
Religious issues are prone to becoming transference/countertransference issues in therapy.
